About Brant 'Bugsy' North

Brant ‘Bugsy’ North’s life was irrevocably changed when he was trapped by the armoured face conveyor chain at an underground longwall coal mine.

The extent of his injuries was so severe that he became a wheelchair-dependent bilateral amputee.

Despite this unimaginable ordeal, Bugsy’s love of sport gave him a focus after his injury and he went on to represent Australia in volleyball and basketball at the Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games – less than 12 months after his accident.

Bugsy's powerful presentation, 'Choices and Consequences', educates and inspires audiences across Australia and New Zealand, promoting personal accountability and the importance of safety in the workplace for all.
