Dr Richards was the founding Managing Director of Greencross Limited and Co-Founder of Mammoth Pet Holdings Pty Ltd , prior to its merger with Greencross Limited in 2014. He is currently Chairman of People Infrastructure Ltd, Healthia Ltd and CardioNexus Pty Ltd and a director of Naturo Pty Ltd, Adventure Holdings Australia, De Motu Cordis and Petsure (Australia) Pty Ltd and Fair Go Australia.
