About Harry Garside

Plumber and Australian boxer, Harry Garside competed in the men's lightweight event at the 2020 Summer Olympics winning a bronze medal.

His win marked the first time in more than three decades that an Australian has medalled in boxing at the Olympics.

The youngest of three boys from Mooroolbark in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs, Garside surprised his family with his desire to become a boxer as a 9-year-old.

A 9-time national champion, the southpaw credits his coach, Brian Levier, who was Garside’s first coach and still remains with him to this day, with sparking his passion and love for the sport.

Harry has some unusual boxing training methods, integrating unique training methods such as ballet, karaoke and army training into his routine.

The routine paid off with Garside winning bronze at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
