Jamie Durie

Jamie Durie is the founder of the international design practice Durie Design, and over the past 14 years has completed designs on numerous resorts, hotels and private estates while also designing the popular range of outdoor furniture and gardening products Patio by Jamie Durie which is stocked exclusively at BIG W.

In Australia, Jamie has hosted a number of top-rated and award-winning programs including The Outdoor Room, Australia’s Best Backyards, Backyard Blitz, The Block , and Torvill and Dean's Dancing on Ice . In 2010 Jamie signed a lucrative three year deal with the Nine Network which has so far seen him host the prime-time show Top Design as well as feature in a documentary on Cirque du Soleil .

As a committed environmentalist, Durie works with numerous outstanding organisations dedicated to conservation and environmental responsibility. Some of these organisations include The United Nations World Environment Day, The Australian Conservation Foundation, Greening Australia, Planet Ark(National Tree Day, 21 years), FSC (USA & Australia), Green Peace Good Wood Guide, Earth Hour and many more.

In honour of his work over the last two decades, Durie was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in 2012 for services to the environment and design and in 2004, he received the Centenary Medal for services to the environment, television, and the community.

In his advocacy for protecting the environment and in an effort to do more and create increased awareness surrounding the reality of climate change and support for our environment, Durie has pulled together a team to create a new media platform Jamie Durie's Groundswell , inspiring people to make sustainable choices in their lives and support meaningful projects globally by telling the captivating stories of both our everyday eco warriors and those on the world stage. In 2019 Jamie received a Sydney Design Award for his contribution towards the protection of the environment through innovation for this project.
