About Osamah Sami

Osamah Sami is an award-winning actor, writer, and comedian, born in war-torn Iran to Iraqi parents.

His critically acclaimed memoir Good Muslim Boy was the Winner of the NSW Premier’s Literary Award and was adapted for the stage, enjoying sell–out seasons.

Osamah wrote and starred in the 2017 smash-hit Aussie film Ali’s Wedding, which earned him a plethora of awards including Australian Academy Award, an Australian Writers Guild Award, Film Critics Circle of Australia Award for Best Original Screenplay, Audience Award for Best Feature Film at Sydney Film Festival, and The Age Critics Award for Best Australian Film at Melbourne International Film Festival. He has also received numerous awards and nominations for Best Lead Actor.

Osamah is recognized as a “notable Australian Muslim” by the Commonwealth of Australia, and is passionate to tell stories filled with ‘colour’.
